Why have you been referred to us?

What can you expect during your visit?

What are Nerve Conduction Studies?

Your doctor referred you to our clinic because they think you may have an injury or illness affecting your nerves, muscles or bones.
You can expect to be in the clinic for 30-90 minutes. We will review your signs and symptoms and discuss whether you require nerve conduction studies with or without electromyography. A screening physical exam will be performed and Dr. Flaschner will review the results of the testing, diagnosis and treatments with you. These services are covered by your Alberta Health plan.
Nerve conduction studies use a small electrical impulse delivered by a stimulator that is placed on the surface of the skin. Stickers placed over the nerves and muscles allow us to determine how fast and how well the nerves are functioning. People find the test surprising however it does not cause any damage or injury.

What is Electromyography?

Electromyography uses a small acupuncture size needle to listen to the natural electrical activity of your muscles. The needle does not stimulate and there are no lasting effects from the test.
